Art Stars & Gallery
Artwork is featured throughout the school year in special exhibits as well as the 4H Fair during the summer. The art instructor selects one outstanding piece of art each year, to be framed and permanently exhibited in our student art gallery.
Battle of the Books Team
Students in grades 4, 5 & 6 may join the BOTB Team to compete against other BCSC schools.
Book Fair
The school librarian sponsors an annual Book Fair to allow access to quality books and reading materials for our students and their families.
Circle the State With Song
Singers try out for this pestigious choral program and practice three times a week during early morning, from October to January. The high school choral director directs CTSWS practices. CTSWS culminates in a day-long regional workshop and concert in Lafayette during January.
Coding Club
Coding Club is open to all students in grades 2-6. CRC meets once a month after school. Have fun learning to write computer programs with our technology instructor.
Geography Bee
All students in grades 4-6 are eligible for participation in the National Geographic Geography Bee.
Honor Flight
Students write thank you notes and cards for veterans to open during their Honor Flights. The sixth grade sponsors fund-raising and works at Meet and Greet gatherings preceeding the flights. One of our students was presented with the Distinguished Hoosier Award for donating their proceeds from 4H livestock sale.
Junior Achievement
Community volunteers offer lessons to develop our students' financial literacy in grades 2-6 during the school day. Topics include community helpers; personal and family finance; budgeting; global economies, etc.
Jr. Master Gardener Program
Jr. Master Gardeners meet for special activities after school and during the lunch hour. A Master Gardener leads this exciting and action-packed program. Some sessions take place at neighboring Goose Creek Alpacas. See our special gardens in front of the school. JMGP has won two Green Light State Awards.
Math Bowl Team
Students in grades 4, 5 & 6 are invited to practice during school hours to try out for the school Math Bowl Team. The team will compete with other area teams.
Musical
Music comes alive during our annual school Musical. Students in grades 4-6 participate in all phases of the production, which is staged in the spring for the entire community. Reviews have been glowing!
PTO Free Movies
PTO sponsors free after school movies that are open to all students and their families. Parent and community volunteers serve concessions and supervise. Movies are relaxed and fun events!
Purdue Convocations & Field Trips
Students go to plays and concerts at nearby Purdue University: Pete the Cat; ARC Electrifying Electricity, etc. Some convocations are hosted at our school: Hurrah for Hoosiers! and Abe Lincioln and Friends. Other field trips enhance academic and career topics: Feast of the Hunter's Moon; Living History, etc. Athletic teams and cheerleaders attend volleyball and basketball games at Purdue University.
RoboBlackHawks Robotics
Fifth grade students meet twice a week during lunch break to learn robotics basics and to compete in a state-wide competition.
Scripps Spelling Bee
All students in grades 4-6 are eligible to participate in the Regional Bee of the National Scripps Spelling Bee.
Student Council Leadership Teams
Students in the intermediate grades 4-6 volunteer for several Student Council Leadership Teams:
1. Ambassadors host guests and give school tours as well as work at special events. 2 Compliment Kids support our Positive Behavioral Support program by looking for students and staff members being kind, doing their personal best, and using the 55 Essentials for Student Success at School (Ron Clark). 3. The Flag Team takes care of our three flags (U.S.A., Indiana State, and Boswell Blackhawk) and participates in the Veteran's Day Program to show proper flag etiquette. 4. The School Store Team helps select items for the store and makes change for purchasers. 5. Peer Tutors help other students to understand academic material and read with younger students during the school day.
Talent Show
Boswell's got talent! Students K-6 may choose to participate in the Annual Talent Show in March.
Veteran's Day Program
All students welcome our local veterans and their families with a community program of inspirational songs and readings. Songs are practiced during music classes.
