Congratulations to all of the 8th graders who attended the Summer Flow Semi-Formal dance this past Saturday evening. All of you seemed to have a great time and a great way to end your 8th grade year. Thanks to all of you who made this possible.

Benton Central stole the lead late and defeated Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger 8-4 on Saturday. The game was tied at three with Benton Central batting in the bottom of the fifth when an error scored one run for Benton Central. Benton Central got things started in the first inning. Stephanie Cummings drove in two when she singled. Benton Central notched four runs in the sixth inning. Megan Asher, Charity Gerlach, and Cassidy Minniear all drove in runs in the frame. Stephanie Cummings pitched Benton Central to victory. She allowed five hits and three runs over five innings, striking out one. Kimberly Cummings threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. O Dickerson took the loss for Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger. She went five and two-thirds innings, allowing eight runs on eight hits. Benton Central tallied nine hits in the game. Kim Cummings and Gerlach each managed multiple hits for Benton Central.Final Score 8-4
Saturday's game against Yorktown was a heartbreaker for Benton Central, as they lost the lead late in a 4-3 defeat. The game was tied at three with Yorktown batting in the top of the sixth when an error scored one run for Yorktown. In the first inning, Yorktown got their offense started. Skyler Davis singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Benton Central tied things up at three. Benton Central scored two runs when Charity Gerlach singled. Kaylyn Coahran was the winning pitcher for Yorktown. She surrendered three runs on five hits over seven innings, striking out ten. Kimberly Cummings took the loss for Benton Central. She surrendered four runs on 12 hits over seven innings, striking out one. Benton Central hit one home run on the day. Gerlach went yard in the first inning.
